Marthe Bonnard taken by Pierre

As many of us probably remember, French post-impressionist painter Pierre Bonnard loved to depict naked women in the bathtub (a small collection of his nudes can be found here - careful, Russian). Evidently, his wife, Marthe Bonnard, was the artist's model in most cases. She used to spend many hours a day in a bath full of water hoping it'll cure her illness. And Pierre addictively portrayed her, but not the mature woman she became in the 1930-s. He depicted a young girl he remembered she was at the beginning of their love and that image would replace for him the sad reality.
